Martial Arts Movies Of The Seventies

People, all to often, mock the brilliant martial arts movies of the seventies for their lack of "Hollywood magic", but Hollywood BS is more like it. While it is true that these movies don't always have brilliant allegorical meaning, and may not, at times, have made use of flawless dubbing technology, they are distinctly brilliant in their own right.

  • They feature some of the greatest martial arts choreography and stunt work ever recorded.

  • They often incorporated training sequences not commonplace in martial arts movies today.

These training sequences were, literally, a how to segment within the movie, illustrating clear instructions handed down my true masters. You see, these movies weren't made by established film artisans, but by established martial artisans. The thought and work that went into creating and performing the movements within these films was their hammer and chisel. These films inspired a world of martial artists, dreamers, and movie makers, and I will slap the next person to mock these films.

#5. Wheels On Meals (1984)
This is one of the most entertaining martial arts movies of all times. Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, and Sammo Hung team up to deliver a hilarious butt kicking movie. Benny (the Jet) Rodriguez costars and lends his amazing skills.

#10. Supercop (1992)
Jackie Chan delivers again in this Police Story sequel titled "Supercop" for it's American release. I absolutely loved Rumble in the Bronx, but I found Supercop to be even better. Michelle Yeoh was also beautiful and skilled enough to be placed at the top of my fantasies.
